Faisalabad Wolves v http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Hyderabad-c792 Hawks – Faysal Bank T-20 Cup, 2012/13 (Group B) – Match Update – Wolves defeat Hawks by 8 wickets
An unbeaten half-century from Farrukh Shehzad proved the main driving force behind the Faisalabad Wolves’ performance, and led the team to an 8-wicket victory over the Hyderabad Hawks in their Group B match during the ongoing Faysal Bank T-20 Cup, played
at the Lahore City Cricket Association Ground today on December 3.
The Hawks won the toss and chose to bat first, but their performance was greatly hindered by the assaults of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Khurram-Shehzad-c71392 (4-0-18-2).
Top-order batsmen http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Rizwan-Ahmed-c85475 (41) was the only batsman who managed a decent performance. His 41-run partnership with
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Aqeel-Anjum-c45294 (11) was the only other batsman who managed to reach double figures, he was unable to capitalise on his start and contribute anything substantial.
The remainder of the batsmen failed to pass the single-digit mark – http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Kashif-Bhatti-c70379 (3*) and Rehan Riaz (1*) were the last two batsmen standing, their contributions did not amount to much.
By the end of 20 overs, with 8 wickets down, the team finished at a disappointing total of 97.
Predictably, the chase did not present much of a problem for the Wolves, who chased it down easily within 17 overs, at the expense of just 2 wickets. Kashif Bhatti (4-1-17-1) and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Rehan-Riaz-c84633 (3-0-22-1) were the only bowlers who did any damage at all to the
Wolves’ batting line-up, but their efforts eventually went in vain.
Opening batsman Farrukh Shehzad led the chase with his unbeaten 57, but was unable to find any support from his fellow top-order batsmen – Asif Ali (3) and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ali-Waqas-c43621 (7) remained unremarkable, with the former trapped lbw by Rehan Riaz, and the latter bowled
by Kashif Bhatti. However, Farrukh Shehzad found an able partner in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Naved-Latif-c78900 (34*), who joined him for an unbeaten 74-run stand. Their combined efforts eventually got the team safely up to 101, with 8 wickets and 23 deliveries remaining.
