Utilising their concentrated bowling attack to full effect, the Faisalabad Wolves secured a 17-run win over the Rawalpindi Rams in their Group B match during the ongoing Faysal Bank T-20 tournament in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755, played at the Bagh-e-Jinnah in Lahore, today
on December 4.
The Wolves won the toss at the beginning of the match, and elected to bat first. The Rams’ http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Samiullah-c88304 all chipped in with one wicket each, but the
Wolves managed to work their way up to a decent final total of 148.
Faisalabad opener Farrukh Shehzad was dismissed early, by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ali-Waqas-c43621 (53) and Khurram Shehzad (33) joined forces for a 49-run partnership for the second wicket. Khurram Shehzad
was eventually sent packing by Babar Naeem, and skipper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Misbah-ul-Haq-c1972 followed soon after, bowled by Samiullah after a mere 5-run contribution.
From there onwards, the Wolves' performance tapered off. Ali Waqas was bowled by Arafat in the 17th over, Jahandad http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Naved-Latif-c78900 (14) was sent back to the pavilion by Arafat in the 19th.
The final over saw both http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Asad-Ali-c46178 (1*) at the crease, the Wolves posted a final total of 148.
The team then went on to launch a successful defence of their total – all 5 bowlers claimed at least one scalp each, while Asad Ali (3.5-0-27-3), Saeed Ajmal (4-0-21-2), and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Khurram-Shehzad-c71392 (4-0-25-2) played starring roles.
Wicketkeeper batsman http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Umar-Amin-c94597 (47) were the only ones who managed to make it past single digit scores, and the highlight of the Rams’ innings was a 9th-wicket 44-run partnership between Umar Amin and Mohammad
Rameez (6), which got the team total from 84 in the 14th over, to 128 by the 19th over.
However, despite their valiant attempts the Rams were unable to execute a successful chase, and with the dismissals of Mohammad Rameez and Umar Amin in the 19th over, off Asad Ali, the team collapsed, all out, at 131, with the Wolves going on
to win by a margin of 17 runs.
