Faizal Saari assures to keep his annoyance in calm in the Razak Cup
Faizal Saari, the 20-year-old sparkling young striker of the Malaysian National Hockey team, aimed not to lose his temper again at the Razak Cup hockey tournament. The event is to be played at the Bukit Serendit Stadium in Mallaca, Malaysia, from July 23
to 29.
Saari had exhibited some sort of anger in the last year’s event, in Kuantan, when he used an offensive language against the umpire, Ravinderpal Singh, in Division Two semi-final against Singapore. As a result of the offence, the striker had to leave the
field after receiving a red card from the umpire.
However, the striker remained quite lucky as he had not faced any severe action by the Malaysian Hockey Federation (MHF) after he had expressed his regrets to the national team management.
“I regret my action and I promise I won’t repeat it. I just want to focus on helping Terengganu do well in the tournament. I am happy that Terengganu will be featuring in Division One this year, after finishing as runners-up in the East zone qualifying tournament
last weekend,” Faizal Saari, the young Malaysian forward, stated about the situation.
Faizal Saari, who has 55 international appearances under his belt, is now eyeing on the tournament and seeks to support his team, Terengganu, which has been placed in Group B along with Perak, Malacca, Kuala Lumpur and Pahang, to qualify for the semi-final
in the Razak Cup.
The striker recently displayed his great form during the Australian Hockey League (AHL). He scored three goals in five matches for Southern Hotshots, while in the Adelaide League he made seven strikes for Forestville in three appearances.
“We also have a reliable team with the presence of two other national players – midfielder Mohd Shahrun (Nabil) and forward Mohd Firhan (Ashaari). My younger brother Mohd Fitri, who is on a playing tour of Europe with the Project 2013 squad, will add steel
to the midfield,” Faizal told about his team.
He is quite pleased with his recent goal-scoring ability, but at the same time he also stated that hockey is a team-game instead of a one man show in every match.
