Question:

Fake Nails for Nail Biting?

I am getting married next month and can not for the life of me stop biting my nails. They are really short and I was wondering what I can do for my wedding to make them look nice. I used to get acrylic nails in high school but b/c my nails were so short, they would stick up and not lay flat. They would also hurt b/c the lady would drill my nail so much. Is there any fake nails that don't require the drill? Or is there a type of nail where they just put an overlay material on top of the nail? I am clueless but need help!

  1. if you bite your nails past the quick, no nail salon in the right mind is going to put acrylic tips on you. however, if you do find a salon that does, you can request to have someone manual sand down your nails by a hand filer rather than a drill sander. acrylic nails will quickly get you out of the habit of biting your nails, once you find out how badly it hurts for a new acrylic tip to rip off your nail bed.

    anyway.

as far as the fake nails from clairs goes; i wouldn't suggest wearing them for any reason at all. UNLESS you plan on painting over the design that's already printed on them. they are totally fake, and ugly, and anyone can spot the imperfections from a mile away.

  2. Fake nails are really the only way I was ever able to grow out any sort of nail. :( I still bite mine horribly (sometimes til they bleed). You have to stop biting long enough to get your nails to heal. Try going to Sally Beauty Supply and buying some "Bite No More". Then, get a bunch of gum so you have something else to chew on. Try to let your nails heal and grow just a tad (maybe a week?) then get plastic glue on nails at the store (just the ones you can buy at walmart that you use superglue to affix). Leave these on for a while and reapply them when they fall off (you might need to carry glue with you). In a couple of weeks, go to the nail salon and get your acrylic nails. If the woman drills your nails too much, I would choose a different salon. The people working there should NOT be wearing masks (if they are wearing masks, it usually signals that they are using a chemical that could be harmful to you - I saw that on the news) and they shouldn't hurt you when applying the nails. If they buff too fast and "burn" you, tell them! Stand up for yourself and don't let them hurt you, they don't have to, they are just being careless when that happens!

Tell them you want the first acrylic nails very short. Then, right before the wedding, you can have longer ones done. I meant to put on fake nails before my wedding and ran out of time to do it! So I had to go through with my nails the way they are. But it all worked out and it was a beautiful day anyway. The important thing is the vows that you and your love are exchanging. Don't sweat anything else. :)

Have a beautiful day and good luck! :)

  3. You can go the the drugstore and get fake stick on nails. Just don't use too much glue. They look good and will work for your wedding.

  4. yeah. you can get them at the drug store or target in the beauty section. u could file them to you liking and then just glue them on. they dont hurt at all... you can get differnt designs or simple solids..they would be great for you wedding!! and congrates on your wedding in advanced

  5. What I did for the time being till my nails grew out for tips, was go to the grocery store and spend like the $5 to $7 on the fake nails that are already painted and what not.  all you have to do is glue them on and they will last for 2 weeks generally.  This will help you break the habit of biting your nails, and let your nails grow with out you picking at them.  They are a lot cheaper than going to a salon and having them done!  This is just to help get you started, once you have enough for a tip if you want to go that route, than I would suggest you go to a nail salon.  Unfortunately most salons will file your nail down..

  6. yea u can buy stick on nails or glue on nails in claire's accesseories for 6.99
