Fake Tan Brands helpp?

Well i want a tan but don't wanna burn in the tanning bed or outside. but i seriously have never used a self tanner.. what brands are good and wont leave me all orange and ugly.. and if there are like shade's or amounts that i can choose from and the average price? help please i want a fake tan for the first day of school! And also if its best to use a tanning bed or a sun tan or what ever? Lmao I Know I'm So Un Experienced. But Yeah.
