Question:

Fake gibson les paul custom?

So, I have a PRS McCarty, and theres this guy that wants to trade his Gibson Les Paul Custom (BLack Beauty) for my PRS. He says the only modification that he has done to it is that he has swapped the original pickups for seymore duncans. But other than that he says its all original. This just sounds a little fishy to me. Why would someone trade a 3000$ guitar for a 2000$ guitar? So, my question is, how am I suppose to check to see if its the real deal? Serial number? Any other things?

  1. You can take it to a certified Gibson dealer, and ask them to inspect it, if it is real, the gut will have no problem with that... You could ask where he got it and contact them about the history of it..As far as why he would want it, some people get sick of one guitar and see another guitar they like the tone of better, so they want it. I have a Gibson Les Paul classic (custom shop) and a prs custom 24 artist package, and i really love the versatility of the prs in comparison to the Gibson...
