Fake hairspray? What do they use on broadway?

We are doing a Hairspray Musical and I wanted to know if there was such a thing as fake hairspray? Because first of all the stage can't get sticky, while we spray the can it can't interfere with our singing or dancing, or get in our eyes or mouths and irritate them. An aerosol can that harmless, is there such a thing? What do they use on braodway? Like a deoderant can but that may irritate some people... is there such a can just filled with water? I NEEEDDD HELP

i know personally, i have dealt with problems like this before, and what i do is i get a special hairspray bottle from MaryKay, that was filled with hairpray, poured out the hairspray and filled it with water. It worked like a charm... (school hairspray performance ;P)

you can get spray water, its suppsoed to be used for cooling you down in the summer, its called Magi...something, i cant remember the name lol. But its basically just water it is still in an aerosol so i wudnt reccommend inhaling it, but have a look round the pharmacy's they tend to have things like that.
