My friend received a ticket from Fremont , California on

Mission Blvd. And, the Officer told him there will be no Courtesy Notice, and the ticket is NOT Notice To Appear.

It says "Notice of Municipal Code Violation". Is this a real ticket ? Should I pay ?

  1. I find this confusing, since for any infraction or misdemeanor in California you have a right to appear and contest the charge and all citations for such offenses ARE promises to appear on a future date.  The only type of citation I know which is NOT a promise to appear is for a parking violation.

Maybe if you updated with the municipal code section alleged to have been violated I would have a better idea of what is going on.

  2. There should be a phone number or an address on the citation.  Your best bet is to call it or go by there and see what's up.

  3. Yes, you should pay it.  Just out of curiosity why did you feel it was necessary to say it was your 'friend' who got the ticket then ask if 'you' should pay it?  I've always thought that people here on YA had a lot of friends who were so helpless that they needed someone else to ask questions on their behalf.  Why not just tell the truth??
