Question:

Faking injury?

We saw Bulldog's Brian Lake took a mark in the dying seconds of the WB & Rich game. He gets up and supposedly grabbed his hamstrings and was assisted from the ground.

Question

1) Did he faked it?

2) If he was injured should he be forced to take the kick? Why? Why not?

  1. yeah, who really knows, but MATT, what are you on about mate, we didn't lose it. it felt that way watching it but we were also down twice by fair margins and fought back, something last years side wouldn't of done. done it against Carlton too, and the two we lost against the pies and roos, we stayed even with them after the initial flogging in the first quarter we got. at least we are showing a bit of back bone now, hope we don't get smashed this week by heaps, ot will undo all the good work.

  2. no as a tigers fan i have no beef with that

the fact is we let too many late goals in but were on the improve thats fore sure

  3. Of course he faked it, he's a full-back.

If a player is injured they should definitely not have to take the kick.

I remember when Lake kicked a goal against Melbourne a few years ago and the commentators said he came to the club as a full forward.

  4. ah yes i heard that on triple m the commentators said he faked it but as if you wouldnt he is a full back i wouldnt want to have an shot that late in the game

  5. To be homest, if it was against Collingwood I would have laughed.

Rarely seen this in AFL - even when someone is cleaned up they generally take their kick. The problem for the umpire is if he forced the guy to take his kick and he really has done his hamstring he would be in trouble.

I am not sure what the rule is but obviously it must be up to the player.

I hope we don't see a surge of injuries - Lockett could have kicked another 200 if he knew about this rule.

  6. well l think richmond has to learn how to play better football since they were 19 pts up and 7 plus minutes to go adn couldnt score again..well such as life they will learn and l dont think he faked it as he has had a problem with his back for the past month ...

let the game roll on and it was a really top contest as well between the great  of these 2 teams ..

  7. who cares it's a none issue, the hawks will beat every team this season, the cats haven't beaten them for 3 years

  8. yer of couse he fake it

he walk off ok so he should of been made to take the kick but hey thats football

  9. I think he might have faked it but there's nothing you can do about it. As far as him being forced to take the kick - yeah I think Staker should have been forced to take his free kick against Sydney last week as well, that would have been funny to watch.

  10. 1) he didnt fake it its richmonds own fault they lost they were ahead by 3 goals wit 3 mins left.

    2) no if he's injured hes injured have yu eva tryed 2 kick a footy with a leg injury??

  11. 1) Yes - of course he faked it.

    2) Yes. Unless his head was hanging off he should take it. That would stop all the blatant bluffing of umpires.

P.S. It's easy to con the AFL umps because none of them have ever played the game & have absolutely no idea of the pros & cons of the game.

  12. omg, dont get me started on a rant about the stupid decisions by umpires!

Lake faked it, and did it well (must have been studying soccer matches).

The worst thing is that the kick was awarded to a guy that was nowhere near the pack of players.

The rules state that the nearest team member of an injured player is awarded the kick....so really, what agenda did the umpire have to award it a player that was nowhere in sight of the pack???.
