Fakro over comes PESARO in four sets by 3-1: CEV Pool E match - Volleyball update
The 2012 CEV Volleyball Champions League for women is currently underway in Europe where the preliminary round of the tournament saw Bank BPS Fakro MUSZYNA and the Scavolini PESARO of Italy go head to head on December 15.
The Pool E match between the two sides was played at the Palacampanara in Pesaro, Italy. The two teams put on a good show of volleyball skills that took the match to four long and gruelling sets at the end of which the guests were able to secure a win over
the home team at the following final set scores: 25-22, 25-20, 24-26 and 25-20.
The head coach of the Fakro squad, Bogdan Serwinski, expressed his satisfaction in the following words after his team had won the match: “We deserved this win as we showed more determination tonight. We were a bit nervous right after the start of the game
but I am very satisfied with our performance.”
On the other hand, the losing team’s coach, Luciano Pedulla, explained himself by making the following statements: “They served and blocked well and this was something new for us in comparison with the previous matches where we actually had ousted our opponents
via these fundamentals. It was not easy to finalize our side-out and next week in Poland we will have to show where we stand right now.”
The first set of the match saw the Fakro line-up put on a good show and take the lead early. However, PESARO was able to close in the gap and eventually reach a tie at 13-13. Both teams battled hard after that point and kept the match close. As a result,
the opening frame reached another tie at 19-19. However, the guests were able to pull themselves together and put on a burst of speed that got them to the end of the frame at 25-22.
The momentum generated by winning the opening frame got the Fakro team to come out strong in the second frame as well and they were able to lead for the most part and end up with another win at 25-20. The loss of the first two frames got the host team to
rally themselves together and save a sweep by bagging the third set but the guests was too strong in the fourth as they secured it at 25-20.
The player who got the Most Valuable Player title was Vesna Djurisic who made her presence felt by adding a total of 15 points that consisted of five blocks as well as two aces.
