Atletico Madrid put on a spirited performance via 5-goal Falcao, to end their 2 match losing run by putting 6 past Los Blanquiazules.
Diego Simeone was under some undeserved criticism after 2 consecutive defeats for Los Rojiblancos, and the tactician wanted a positive response from his comrades as Atletico hosted Deportivo La Coruna for their La Liga encounter on Sunday evening.
Their latest La Liga match against fellow city rivals Real Madrid saw Atletico be at the wrong end of a 2-0 result, which consequently had their lead over Los Blancos cut down to 5 points.
Atletico were still very much in the running for the La Liga title race as they trailed current table-toppers Barcelona by 6 points, and a win over Deportivo was seen as vital for getting things back on track.
Los Rojiblancos players rose up to the occasion and put in a superb performance, that may well be savoured for some time by the home faithful.

The rest of the show was stolen by Colombian striker http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Radamel-Falcao-c30276 as he went on to score 5 goals in as many shots at the opposition’s goal.
Diego Costa turned provider for Atletico’ 2nd as his through pass found Falcao, and the striker coolly finished off the move.
Falcao scored Atletico’s third just before half time after he turned in a throw which got him his brace.
It was a reflection of first half, in the 2nd; as Los Rojiblancos went on to score 3 more after the interval, Falcao being the terminator again.
He first scored from a penalty-kick early in the half after a mistake by Roderick.
The Colombian scored his 4th and Atletico’s 5th, 3 minutes later by tapping in a rebound.
Falcao’s 5th was a great solo effort and it rounded off a massive performance by the Madrid based side.
Atletico have consolidated their 2nd place in the league and hold a 5 point lead over arch rivals Real Madrid.
The win has seen them maintain their 6 point deficit by the hands of table-toppers http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604.
