Have you heard about this. . . .

  1. No i didn't but i'm sure the government will find some way to take it off them and, if they can't they will probably ban them from drilling due to enviromental interests.

Your link is broken by the way.

Do you really think that the taxpayer will see any money returned that has been spent via war???

alexinscarborough is right only the rich mates of the PM who deaL in oil refinery and the United States will benefit from this discovery GUY do you really think you as a taxpayer will get anything if you do you are deluded, this government has shown you what they think of you as a tax payer.

  2. Very good pity the link does not work.

  3. Are you referring to an old article about two years ago, check dates?

    edit: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/6571...

    Is this it?

  4. Dream on! Something tells me they'll get the same treatment as the Scots got when oil was found within their shores!

    GUY: WTF's "porshe mates"?

  5. Argentina has no right to the Falklands, the islands have had nation status longer than Argentina has been a country.

The fact that an Island is hundreds of miles off your coastline does not give you the right off owenership, if that were the case then the British isles would belong to France and the Carribean Islands such as Bermuda would be American Territory.

I suggest we encourage the Americans to build an NSA Base or military facility on the Falklands, that would help deter the Argies.

  6. why do you think the Argentinians wanted their Malvinas ( islands ) back?

last I heard it's far from over & they are set to re-invade.

    it's bound to happen.

  7. Britain stole the Falkland Islands from Argentina in circa 1720.We fought their in 1982 for a few dozen sheep and nothing else. But the Argies were wrong in invading British Terrotory until such times as agreement of transfer was reached. So they have oil it wont benefit us here as the Government will simply tax it even more......Not worth the hassle

  8. No wonder Argentina invaded the Falklands and we took action to defend this relatively small island in the South Atlantic. I hope that we can extract the oil and have some independence

  9. Hope it is with Iran on the verge of nuclear weapons

    .. . ..

And Iran's hate of Israel is going to make turning Israel into a sheet of glass irresistible

    .. . ..

And with in 7 days of Iran's final testing of the weapon Israel will cease  to exist as a  country

    .. . ..

And all of the Middle East will be one huge Furnace of uninhabitable land

    Because of all the retaliation

    .. .. ..

  10. The Falklands war was always about oil from the word go.That is common knowledge.

  11. Oh dear, that will be the death knell of The Falklands.

Argentina will start up trying to put a claim on the place.

USA will walk in (because brown will let them) and stake a claim.

The arabs won't be that worried because there isn't any sand or sun.

  12. Respect to you my friend and some good points - sorry about your link though.

This was known about many years ago and is probably the real reason why Britain and Argentina went to war in 1982 in my humble opinion, there are many conspiracy theories regarding this. Back then, they said that the resources were there, but to abstract it then would be either too risky, too expensive or impossible due to technology available at the time. Now though, 26 years on, and world shortages and sky high prices, it puts a whole new slant on things. It would be interesting if the estimated 3000 population became multimillionaires overnight but I can't see it somehow. The only rich people will be the BP oil fatcats in any event.

  13. Links not working.

  14. To the guy the reckons the government will take it off them do you not remember the Falklands war. Probably the most expensive war ever in history per head of population. As a tax payer I am now expecting a return.

Agent Zero you could ask your porsche mates who makes the decisions in London. I not really bothered weather I see the tax or not. It will make no differance to my life weather there is oil there or not. But if the goverment takes a chunk in tax I am all for it. That was one expensive war for 3000 people many thousends of miles from the UK. Principles do come in to it in the sense the falklands were these peoples homes. But I suspect the  reason we went to war was for the known (at the time) oil reserves.

Sorry, I missed the "c" out.
