Fallen For You: The surprising hero of Coronation Stakes
Much to the surprise of many sport lovers, the punters and the spectators who attended the high-profile Royal Ascot event; Fallen For You convincingly won the Coronation Stakes on June 22 by beating Starscope with the big margin of 3 ¼ lengths.
Despite being a non-favourite runner, the John Gosden trained bay filly demonstrated an outstanding, calculated and confident performance to earn the biggest glory of her life.
The Group 1 race went over the soft course of 1 mile. Fallen For You ran under William Buick. In the beginning, she seemed to be somewhat off-coloured. But, the fervent filly abruptly increased her pace to leave all of her nine rivals behind.
The hot favourite candidate for that race, Homecoming Queen, could not be able to even come closer to Fallen For You who was unbelievably sharper and effective.
The three-year-old young and energetic filly has 3 triumphs to her name. Since debuting in July 2011, she has run seven races so far.
The daughter of Dansili out of Fallen Star broke her maiden in her very first race that was Adnams Bitter EBF Maiden Fillies' Stakes, held at Newmarket.
The Normandie Stud Ltd owned and bred maverick sprinter moved on to finish as the runner-up in the very next race entitled as Barrett Steel May Hill Stakes (Group 2) (Fillies).
Fallen For You’s second victory came on May 2, 2012. This time, she won the Bet On Your Mobile At Blue Square EBF Conditions Stakes (Fillies) with the favourite tag.
And then, she sizzled in the gorgeous Royal Ascot event. It was a magnificent feat indeed. She proved her inherent racing skills well.
She last ran on August 12. The enthusiastic filly has no scheduled entry in the next few weeks. It is assumed that Gosden is preparing her for some mega event.
Hopefully, this off-field strategy will prove to be a blessing for her and she can stage a strong comeback.
One thing is clear that the Ascot spectators will never forget the way Fallen For You made history on June 22. The bettors will also think keenly before underrating her in the future.
