I was approaching the jump and out of now where he just stopped! i flew into the jump (4'9) oxer and the whole thing came down on me. Im trying to build up my confidence. My ribs are fine and my head is back to normal. But im riding with a broken arm which is no problem. Any adivice on gaining back my confidence to beast the jump again?

  1. that sounds horrible, i hope your okay because that can kill you!

that is my biggest fear, falling and breaking my ribs :S seriously, were you wearing a body protector because i dont :S anyway

try going over small jumps (when your arm is better) and gardully build up again.

its all part of the job im afraid but its still nasty!

i hope you get better so you can ride again soon!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    good luck!

  2. woah!

    i am so sorry!

well that's never happend to me

but i would just say if you

love horses enough you should give

    them another shot

    good luck!

    im really sorry!

  3. Just take it slow, build your confidence over smaller stuff. There is absolutely no reason in the world that you have to jump right back into the big stuff. Once you are comfortable jumping smaller again, put the jumps up one hole at a time. TAKE IT SLOW.

And we've had kids ride with a broken arm, no problem. Just use a little extra caution :)

  4. I have never been in quite that serious an accident (so obviously in that case you couldn't just get back on) but what I think is if you are truly passionate about it you'll find the confidence. Once you start jumping again i'd say take it slow. Do a lot of ground work and maybe use this time to improve you and your horse bond. This will strengthen your confidence while jumping. BUT FOR SURE DON'T BE NERVOUS ONCE YOU START JUMPING BIGGER FENCES AGAIN, IT CAN ONLY LEAD TO DISASTER. Work on a course at a low level and restore your confidence first.

  5. My mother got bucked off of my horse and had to fly in a helicopter to L.A. and fractured her skull and messed up her arm. Actually, she has fractured her skull twice riding and she still is determined to ride.

  6. Well Like the saying goes " when you fall off a horse, you got to get back on."  Just start jumping ground poles first and work your way back up to where you were before the accident. Thats I would do.. Good Luck and be careful.

  7. I think riding with a broken arm is madness - if you fall again you could damage it even more and probably permanently.  You cannot be in full control of the horse and insurance will not pay out if you damage yoruself and or the horse - and you could be sued to the heavens if you happen to injure a third party whilst riding with a broken arm.

To regain your confidence go back to basics - when you are able - start small and then add the height as you gain more confidence about being back in the saddle jumping.

  8. First of all you really need to let your arm heal.  You could fall and double break it and that would not be good.  2nd, when you jump again you just have to go into it with no fear.
