  1. Those are meteors! They could come from the Asteroid Belt, The Oort Cloud or from a comet's tail or just small rocks roaming around in space! The get attracted by the Earth's gravity and as they enter the atmosphere the friction with the air makes them burn up!

  2. Particles from space could be from a various sources.  A supernova send stuff flying everywhere and some of it could end up at Earth.  Comets and asteroids also shred and some of that could end up at Earth.

The reason they enter our atmosphere is because they were captured by Earth's gravity.   They were floating around in space until they got captured by Earth's gravity field which causes them to fall toward Earth's surface.  During the fall, friction with the atmosphere generates tremendous heat and the particles burn and glow.  If they are big enough we see their glow as a burning star.

  3. falling stars are not particles of dust, they are meteors.

When they pass through our orbit, they can sometimes be drawn in by earth's gravity. they then burn up when travelling through our atmosphere.

  4. You're right. Falling stars, also known as shooting stars or  meteors,  are particles of dust burning up in the earth's atmosphere.

These particles are in space, but they aren't just hanging there, they are orbiting around the sun. They have fallen off comets, and usually follow the same path around the sun as the comet. When the earth's path crosses the comet's path, the dust left behind by the comet hits the earth's atmosphere and burns up, causing the sight that we see as a meteor.

  5. It is the meteor entering the earth's atmosphere, kind of like making a splash in a pool only in outer space... LOL!
