if fallingwater was like a tree, what would represent the roots, branch and the trunk?

if you dont know the answer either, please tell me this is a stupid question so i dont feel stupid for not knowing the answer =)

The roots would be the tributaries going into the stream, the trunk would be the stream and the water falling itself would be the branches. I think?
