to make this story short.my daughter is 14 months and a climber. started walking at 9 1/2. I turned my back for 1 minute. she fell off a chair i think she was trying to climb on a trash can but im not sure i did not see it. broke her arm in 4 different places. elbow was dislocated had to put pins in to keep it together. one of the hospitals reported child abuse. said there is NO way it could have happened from a fall. the other hospital told me i have nothing to worry about he believes me and so on.. child services came. she did not take my child away (even tho she told me i was not supposed to take her from the hospital she was supposed to go into foster care). also told me if the doctor tells her what he told me then the case will be closed. well she talked to him today he told her the same thing. and she told me there was a "misunderstanding" at the hospital and she wants me to go to a child abuse expert- what is this by the way?. i can be around her 24.7 but not alone. (she even told me she wants me to stay around her for both of us).. i would never ever hurt my child in any way. i would do anything for her and now im being accused of this. i was told i could be arrested right on the spot. why do i have to go to a child abuse expert when she told me (plus family members) once the doctor tells her the same thing its closed and done????

please help me. this is devastating and i dont know what she is trying to do...she obviously somewhat believes me or else my child wouldnt be with me anymore. what is going on??????????

  1. You are a victim of the laws that protect the child. Thank GOD they are trying to do something about seeing your child is protected.

Too many children have slipped through the so called cracks in the laws and ended up dead later on.

My daughter in 76 fell down the front stairs and was taken to the er. I was a police officer back then. A Nurse called the police to arrest me for abuse to her because she had strawberries from birth on her neck and shoulder. The nurse said it was abuse, I asked for a professional doctors opinion and a look at the medical records to clear me and it did.

Get an attorney and a statement of the Doctor for the record and file it against this case as you are fit and a capable parent to care for your child.

  2. Oh, how awful for you!  My middle child was a climber and sometimes I used to worry someone would think I had injured him.  I took a first aid course not long after he got mobile because the things he did were so scary.  No matter how careful you try to be, the adventurous ones land themselves in trouble regularly!

There may be a website for the child services people where that woman is from and they may have information there for you.

You could also try contacting where she came from by phone and asking them about the usual process and what pamphlets they have.

But the best piece of advice I can give you is to choose someone who is with you at every meeting and every time that anything is being discussed or information being looked for - a family member or friend.  You are probably very stressed and the lady may have already told you what you need to know and you don't remember or didn't pick up what she said.  Stress can make it very hard to think clearly so the job of your support person is to listen carefully and be your "brain" and "memory."  Another thing they can help with is learning the terms used and process and teaching it to you in "bites" you can cope with.  If this isn't resolved quickly, make sure you get a support person.

I've been through a very stressful time that involved my children and my sister finally realised that I often didn't really know what was going on and she sort-of "took over" managing the situation for me and I was SO grateful although in normal situations I hate people taking over.

I really hope all this settles down quickly for you and your little daughter recovers quickly, bless her adventurous little heart.

  3. Get a lawyer ASAP.  And have your daughter tested for Brittle Bone Disease.  There's another name for it.  I forgot what it was.

I'm sure there are parents on websites who had the same problems you are having and had to fight it in court.
