False internet connectivity?

I just did a complete hard drive wipe and reinstall of windows. I have installed the drives and after a headache got the wireless internet up. I then installed a network controller and RAID controller. after this i had a connection to my wireless, but could not connect to any site (internet explorer says i have no connection, but windows and asus says i do) and i cannot register windows again. I then uninstalled the network controller and got Windows Installer v4.5 re-dist. that allowed me to install Internet Explorer7 which downloaded the data files. but after the re-boot i have this "false connectivity" i have a signal but no access. any ideas on a fix?
