Fame And Glory all set to start his season in the Vintage Crop Stakes at Navan
The A.P O’Brien trained, Fame And Glory, will compete in the Vintage Crop Stakes at Navan on 20th May, 2012, where he will race against six other runners.
His jockey, Joseph O’Brien, stated that he might not be at the top of his game for this event.
Normally ridden by Jamie Spencer, Joseph O’Brien will be taking charge of the son of Montjeu, out of Gryada in this race.
"Jamie Spencer would normally ride him, but I believe he's suspended on Sunday, so it's nice I've been able to come in for the ride," said O'Brien jnr.
"He's a good horse and he seems in good form at home, but he in particular is a horse who improves a lot for his first run of the year.
"He's quite laid-back at home and he's a year older and a year wiser, but it's a good place to start him off and I'm looking forward to it."
The six-year-old horse has competed in some mega-events, and secured majestic victories in some of them.
Last season, he notched two victories at Ascot, the first of which was the Group 1 Gold Cup (British Champions' Series) in June, 2011.
He used his winning odds of 11-8 well to his advantage, and took the lead over the Mahmood Al Zarooni trained, Opinion Pol,l by a difference of 3 lengths.
On 15th October, 2011, the bay horse, who is under the ownership of Mrs. Fitri Hay, faced off with Opinion Poll again, this time the odds were in favour of Opinion Poll, who had a 12-5 chance to win,, but Fame And Glory’s brisk
pace was no match for him and he succeeded by 1¼ lengths in the Group 3 Qipco British Champions Long Distance Cup.
Fame And Glory has had his fair share of success in his career, as he has secured thirteen victories from his twenty-one starts.
Even if he doesn’t score in this race, he will compete in more races this season and he has a chance to develop in the upcoming races of the season. It is only matter of time before he prevails.
