Fame And Glory will have to work hard to defend his title in the Gold Cup at Royal Ascot
Fame And Glory is the one to watch out for among 13 runners competing in the Group 1 Gold Cup at the Royal Ascot, which will take place on 21st June, 2012.
The son of Montjeu, out of mare Gryada, aced the 2 mile and 4 furlong race on 16th June, 2011, and claimed the Gold Cup.

In the 2011 edition, he defeated the Mahmood Al Zarooni trained, Opinion Poll, by 3 lengths. This time he is returning to the track aiming to defend his title.
The runner has been in good form and proved it when he landed a victory in the Vintage Crop Stakes at Navan over, Unaccompanied, by a marginal difference of a neck.
Opinion Poll on the other hand will be looking to atone for his defeat from last year, and this time, he is more determined than ever to land a victory over Fame And Glory.

The rivalry will be renewed as the Godolphin owned runner will try his best to claim the victory, and take the money home.
Opinion Poll and Fame And Glory also battled in the Group 3 Qipco British Champions Long Distance Cup at Ascot in October, 2011. Opinion Poll put up a good fight but still fell short by 1 ¼ lengths.
Opinion Poll, the six-year-old horse recently landed a victory in the Group 3 Betfair Henry II Stakes at Sandown, over the Luca Cumani trained, Ibicenco, by 2 ¾ lengths.
Fame And Glory might find it difficult to defend his title, as he will be going up against some of the toughest runners, including the John Oxx-trained, Saddler's Rock.
The son of Sadler´s Wells, out of mare Grecian Bride, has proved his potential time and time again.

He recently finished as a runner-up to, Midnight Soprano, in the Seamus & Rosemary McGrath Memorial Saval Beg Stakes at Leopardstown.
The trainer was satisfied with his performance as he stated:
"He came out of his race fine the other day, so we just have to hope the next week goes well, but it's so far so good."
Others runners include Gulf Of Naples, Askar Tau and the Aidan O’Brien trained Memphis Tennessee.
