  1. Going by memory (this info should be easily availabl with a quick google search) Man 'O War won every one of his races - except one which he lost.

And, ironically, to a horse named Upset!

In those days they did not have starting gates inthe 1920s like they do now.  A rope strecthced across the track was lowered to indicate the start  of the race.   If I remember rightly from contemporary accounts, Big Red (which i think was his nickname) was backing off from the rope when it was dropped, and so lost a length or two, thus the loss to Upset.

The Man 'O War bloodlines still flow in modern thoroughbreds.  One of his sons, War Admiral, did win the Ky Derby, and if memory serves, the Triple Crown also.

  2. Man O' War won 20 of his 21 races.   He was defeated by a horse named Upset.

  3. d 21

he won all his races except one, which was due to a jockey error.

  4. D.) 20 out of his 21 starts

  5. The answer is "d," Man O' War won 20 races.  His lone defeat came to a horse be the name of Upset.

  6. He Won 20 but what really made Man O'War great is that he sired 64 stake horses from 1922 to 1943 , including War Admiral,Crusaderm and Mars.

    That's over 20 years.

If you follow the decendents you get greats like:

    Seattle Slew,Seabiscuit,Smarty Jones

  7. He won 20 races. He lost only one time, to a horse named Upset.
