  1. here is a list of the destination that carnival goes to carnival is know for family cruise and great prices the other ship are a bit high from this web link it will give you and ideal of each place and you can also check the pricing of the trip once you have that you can compare with the other cruise lines i wish you all the best hope you find your dream cruise

  2. I would recommend going on the mariner of the seas western caribbean route. it goes to sooo very pretty islands

  3. Last year I went on a Carnival Cruise and it was amazing, every thing was luxurious and the waiters actually like their jobs so they are always happy to help and constintely smiling at you. The places we went to were bahamas jamiaca and the keys

  4. Depending on when you want to go in the winter, you want to be making reservations before too long [i.e. if you're going over a school break].

I'd suggest you get a book on cruising at your library or bookstore [they even have a "Dummies" one, if that's your style], to get an overview about cruising.  There are many variables and you need to sift through some of them before you go to your travel agent, so you'll get what you want.

Good first - and family - cruises are Carnival or Royal Caribbean, or Disney, if you've got the money.  You'll need to decide line and ship [different sizes and amenities.

I assume you're talking about going to the Caribbean, so you'll probably choose between Eastern and Western itineraries.

You'll choose your cabin from among these types:  inside [no window, cheapest type], ocean view [window - doesn't open, of course], balcony [has a small "porch" and full-length door to it], and suite [largest rooms with some special amenities on some ships - most expensive cabin type].  You'll want to either go for a "guarantee" [you'll take whatever cabin they assign you to in your category - may or may not be one you'd choose yourself] or choose your cabin when you reserve.  You want to check deck plans to make sure you're not under the disco, the galley, the theater, or whatever other facility might be especially noisy.

In the ports, you'll need to decide which excursions you want to do, or whether you want to make your own plans.  The former is easy, but is sometimes crowded; the latter is usually cheaper, gives you flexibility, but you have to do your research and figure out which providers are best.  If you go on your own, you also must make sure you get back to the ship on time, because they won't wait for you if you're late unless you're on a ship's excursion.

There are lots of other decisions you'll need to make, but overall a cruise is an easy, fun family vacation.

Since you're going in winter, if you have to fly, I strongly suggest you fly down the day before and stay overnight in a hotel, just in case there are any flight delays.  I'd also suggest you make your own air plans, as those through the cruise line are much less convenient and not necessarily cheaper - plus they don't let you go down the day before.

If you want some great info about cruising, try CruiseCritic.com.  Click on "Boards" at the top of the page, then go to whatever board interests you.  And/or click on "Reviews" and see what the pros and members [especially helpful] have to say about the different ships.

It will take a bit of research, but it can be part of the fun of planning your trip.  Have fun with it - I hope you find just the right cruise for you and your family!

  5. Carnival or Norwegian are good choices, when are you planning to travel? you can always try an eastern caribbean cruise. try this site http://www.LouMarTravel.com

  6. Royal Caribbean virgin Islands is the cruise to do!  I did that a few years ago and the Islands are just so beautiful and the treatment you get from the staff at Royal Caribbean is really royalty!

  7. First you should know that all of the cruise lines give the best price for early bookings that are a year or more in advance. So its good that you are starting your cruise search process now. Cruise lines also list specials on their web sites so do look for those. The specials can many times save you a couple hundred per person over the price for the exact same cruise on a different date.  If you want a good price or deal, then go when the prices is the lowest instead of a set date that you may have in mind.    So if you want to go in the w

"winter" consider cruises Dec, Jan and Feb.

    The price you pay for your cruise will depend mostly on the type accommodations that you choose. There are 4 basic types of cabins on ships;

    - inside (no window), ..................... (cheapest)

    - outside (a window or porthole),

    - balcony/veranda, and

    - suites. ........................................... expensive)

Royal Caribbean has some inside cabins on its Freedom and Voyager Class of ships that have a window overlooking an inside promenade mall.

The "FROM" prices you see will always be for an inside cabin.

You can reserve a cruise on line, by calling the cruise line, or through a travel agent by paying the minimum deposit which will be between $250 and $350 per person for a 7 day cruise, depending upon the cruise line. The minimum will be more for a longer cruise, for example $450 per person for a 14 day cruise. The balance will be due approximately 60 days before the cruise departure date. But you can make periodic payment on line or with the cruise line.

If you want to go on a winter cruise then the Caribbean is the best place.  The Alaska and New England/Canada cruises will not be going.  Neither will those to the Baltic countries (Scandanavia).  You CAN however go to places like Australia and South America during the winter.

BUT,  if you decide to go to the Caribbean there are really three basic types of Caribbean itineraries.

    - Western Caribbean cruises typically go to Cozumel, Grand Cayman, Jamaica and a private cruise line island. If you go western Caribbean you will have great beaches to visit and the opportunity to buy tours to Mayan ruins.

-Eastern Caribbean typically go to St Thomas, St Maarten, a private cruise line island and maybe another island like Tortola or Puerto Rico. If you want to do a lot of shopping then pick a cruise with St Thomas as one of the port stops. St Maarten is also mainly a beach and shopping stop.

    - Southern Caribbean cruise itineraries typically start in Puerto Rico and go either to Aruba, Curacao, and St Thomas and St Maarten, OR they go to the southern Caribbean islands like Barbados, Grenada, Antigua, St Lucia and maybe St Thomas and/or St Maarten. The main difference between these two itineraries, aside from the different islands, is the Aruba cruise has 2 "at sea" days with no port stops, while the other has a port stop about each day.

If you want to do a Caribbean cruise that is longer than 7 days you may want to consider one to the Panama Canal. Cruises there typically do stops similar to the Western Caribbean (as I mentioned above) including Jamaica, Cozumel or a Mexico port, and Grand Cayman along with Panama and Costa Rica.

I recommend a Royal Caribbean cruise for families because it has great kids programs in Adventure Ocean and in the teen's club called Fuel. Also, Royal Caribbean has the most things to do on their ships.

My suggestion would be for you to look at going on one of RC's cruises and specifically on a Freedom Class ( http://www.royalcaribbean.com/findacruis... ) or Voyager Class ( http://www.royalcaribbean.com/findacruis... ) ship. I have been on both of these class ships and they are great and I think your kids will enjoy them. The Freedom Class is a larger version of the Voyager class and it has THE most things to do. The Voyager Class is slightly smaller and has all of the on-board activities except the Flowrider.
