Family Double Standards?

Question

For a project I have to do I need to find some examples of double standards, specifically within a family. I've only found two so far and I need more variety.

Can anyone list some double standards between parents and children?

Bedtimes- adults don't have them, kids up to a cerain age have them.

Chores- kids usually do them, adults don't.

in dual working couple women are still doing up to 70% of the child care and cleaning.

it's the woman choice to work or not work outside the home...however most women wont accept a stay at home dad.

women can choose...men have to work.

If a parent sees their child fighting, they will smack them to teach them that violence is wrong!  :-)

most women give preferential treatment to the first child.  most men dont do any prererential treatment.

My mother was the money-maker, the bread-winner.  She knew how to milk a cow and serve an injured soldier.  But when I wanted to do anything like cut the lawn, I could not, because I was a girl.  And to this day, I refuse to mow the lawn, cuz I am a Girl.

I think the most frustrating double standards are between parents and children. Example: Parents yell at children and children are told its rude to yell back (even if its for the same reason)

Children are taught to respect their parent but most parents dont respect their children.

Mother and Father will fight infront of their children, but when two siblings argue, one or both is usually punished for fighting.

being on illegal drugs was frowned on ... as it should be .. but when a sibling is a addicted badly to many  prescription medications and doing alot worse than the other sibling .. this is ok as a doctor gave it to them .... i hope this is what you are after .. i just could never work this out ...

One I've seen is parents who drink but freak out when they hear of their children doing it.
