On Road to Rhoad Island, as brian and stewie burry Brians mother, stewie says a few words and closes with "Requiem and Terra Pax, ahmen." What does that mean? is it just short-hand for the block of subjects covered in a eulogy? and if so, what does it mean in simple english....thanks

The abbreviation R.I.P. stands for the Latin "Reqiescat in Pace." I'm trying to get past the insensitivity of not bothering to spell out the epitaph on someone's tombstone and instead concentrate on understanding why and how this convention originated.

Requiem means "rest" as in "you rest now" and Terra Pax is "Peace on Earth".

It means "rest now and peace on earth"
