Family Guy: Back to the Multiverse promises an entertaining experience for the fans
Fans of the American television animated sitcom Family Guy are about to get a full dose of over-the-top comedy with the upcoming Family Guy: Back to the Multiverse game, which is due to come out sometime in November, 2012.
The Call of Duty publisher Activision may be renowned for their first-person shooters, but if anyone was under the impression that that was all the publisher is good at, they are about to be proven wrong.
The company’s lead producer Andy Owen conceded during his interview with the PlayStation Blog that the development team has concentrated more on creating an authentic Family Guy experience instead of focusing on the graphics and level design.
He said that the fans of the franchise are likely to judge the game on how close it is to the actual spirit of the sitcom instead of how awesome the graphics are or how well the levels have been designed.
"It wouldn’t matter how much effort we put into the graphics, or the level design, or the action. If it didn’t feel like Family Guy--if it wasn’t funny, or if Stewie shouted 'Blast!' and it was clear we’d just hired some actor to do a mediocre Stewie impression,
fans would hate it. We would hate it," Owen said.
Owen conceded that getting full access to the original Family Guy production team allowed them to really add the true flavour of the sitcom to the game.
He revealed that the script writers for the sitcom Mike Desilets and Anthony Blasucci were behind the script of Family Guy: Back to the Multiverse as well, whereas the voice actors were also brought onboard to make the experience as genuine as possible.
The concept of the upcoming game was also revealed to be inspired by the season 8 premiere episode of the show, which involved Stewie and Brian travelling to parallel universes through the aid of a remote control.
The ideas for these universes have been drawn from the likes of The Flintstones, Disney and a place where Christianity does not exist.
Family Guy: Back to the Multiverse is coming out for the Sony and Microsoft current-generation consoles as well as the PC.
