My sister recently gave me her old car for $5 it's a 1996 acura, i asked her more than once what she wanted for it, she responded both times "NO, i'm giving it to you" she just bought a 2004 Mercedes, the 1996 acura has 180,000 miles, body imperfect, windsheild cracked, was messy in the interior. Now my mom thinks I should pay her money for a car that i really didn't want anywase, I mean, sure for that price i'll take it,

what do you think??

personally i think it's none of her business.

  1. If your sister is happy with the arrangement, then I would let her tell your mom that she doesn't want money for the car.  It was your sister's car, so the mom really doesn't have anything to say about it, but just to reassure her that it's an agreed transaction between the two of you, I'd get your sis to make it clear to your mom that she doesn't want any money.

Your mom probably has had experiences where interfamily transactions did not go well and she wants to prevent one of you getting angry over the car.
