So,

Me and my sisters are going to be taking family pictures (in a way) but it's going to be just the sisters it's going to be a surprise for our mom so we're taking them ourselves I was wondering if anyone had any tips on how to pose and what colors would be good? or any other tips and/or ideas would be appreciated. Thanks in advance for any answers.

  1. most often than not, stolen shots are sweeter than those planned poses.

  2. Is it just one photo of you and your sisters that you are going for or separate photos of each of you?

I'm assuming you will be using a digital camera.  I would wear some neutral colors (nothing vivid or colorful, stay away from patterns).  My other advice is to do it outdoors between 5 and 7 (depending on where you live).  The reason for that is that you will have flattering lighting conditions and will not have to worry about the flash or red eyes.  Remember that when you are outdoors, the sun should be behind the camera (unless you are taking a photo of the sunset) or you will end up with shadows on your faces.  If you have a nice, green lawn it may help with the background.  If you lie down on your stomach, prop yourself up on your elbows and look up into the camera, you won't get a double chin.  The other idea that I have would require photo editing, but you  could probably accomplish it in Microsoft Publisher.  I would take a group shot and individual head only shots.  Then on the paper I would crop the group photo to fit on lower half of the page (in landscape) and then the head shots would get arranged on the other half.  Kind of like this:

The first announcement is layed out like that, except your's would have only photos.  So if any of you are handy with a computer, give it a try.  Good luck.

  3. I would suggest a simple wardrobe.

    Jeans and a white/pink/blue/green top.

    Something simple NO prints.

I would also suggest clean looks for your hair. No crazy buns or braids.

Straight, wavy curly whatever. No clips that will be visible in the picture either.

Jewelry-I would suggest wearing none or a very simple necklace/bracelet, that is similar among you and your sisters.

Background-one color. If your getting the taken outside make sure there is nothing weird-like dog toys or anything in the yard. lol.

Poses- always put your chin up a little bit, it makes your face look slim and your neck longer. (no one wants a picture where they have no neck lol) Natural poses always look best. You and your sisters having the same pose-egh- it will look a little tacky,

    GOOD LUCK!
