My husband re-enlisted in Nov 2007 and changed his MOS to 31b. He is going to school in two weeks for this and we were wondering if he qualifies for family separation pay since he will be gone for 3 months. He asked his CO the other day but he still hasn't given him an answer yet. Just wondering if anybody can help. Thanks in advance.

  1. He may want to go to Finance and ask them what extra pay he is entitled to.

  2. He is eligible after 30 days. And he will receive it every month that he is gone.

  3. Generally, if he is away from his family (and this means with no visits home) for more than 30 days, he is eligable for seperation pay.  However, he should check with finance to be sure..if the cross training was voluntary that can affect it.

  4. If your husband is separated from his family for more than 10 days he should always get separation pay.

  5. He should talk to his admin / payroll clerk along with a copy of his orders (if he has them already). Then they can determine if he is eligible - which most likely he is.

  6. He needs to talk to the admin clerk not the CO.  Since Admin should know what to do, CO is just the person to approve and sign.

  7. He has to be stationed at least 50 miles from you and for at least 30 days,  if he is then he will qualify for family sep pay, I dont know about now, but it was like 250 a month when I was in.

  8. He is eligible for Family Sep pay after 30 days.  So, yes, your family will receive family separation pay!
