Family Tree Maternal/Paternal...?

When designing a family tree, should the maternal side be on the left and the paternal on the right, or the other way around?

Men to the left, women to the right...unless you're dyslexic and like it the other way.

It's usually men to the left, women to the right. There's nothing stopping you doing it the other way round, but other people will get confused when reading it, and when copying information across, you may enter the wrong information for the wrong person. And you DON'T wanna do that...
