My last name is Beckham (yes like the soccer David Beckham) I really want to learn more about my family tree, I have asked my grandparents but they really weren't much help. I got the name from my father who was the first one on my dad's side to be born in america, the rest were born in England. if you know any sites that might already have some tree done I would be very grateful. if you need more info please just write an answer saying so I will edit. Thanks!!!

If you want to know about your family, you will have to do the research.

All of the above trees have Beckhams--must be a popular name!

Start with yourself, your parents and everything you can get your grandparents to tell you. You are lucky they are still around.

Good luck and have fun.  But beware--It is an addictive hobby.

  2. Wendy's tip-

You don't need to find all Beckhams.  You need to find your relatives (you might bump into famous persons on the way, but don't get sidetracked).

Your grandparents should know their own parents.  ONLY ONE of those will be a Beckham.. grandma will be another maiden name.

You will always get more info if you are explicit.. ie your grandfather was born in England, but immigrated? From what town? What year? By narrowing down the details, it tells you what records you might expect to find.. and where to look for them.

Expecting to find a family tree already done is risky.. since unless you do some actual research, you don't know if there are mistakes (yes, there often are.).  What is ALWAYS best, is to focus on individual persons and records, which you connect, from yourself, backwards.

  3. Check out the following websites, just remember that the people that have done the trees might be wrong.  I would suggest you get the documents yourself to make sure it info is right.  They might be of the wrong people put into the database.  Garbage in Garbage out.
