Family Vacation help!?

Question

My family and I are going to LA for a week. I need some help and tips.

We have to pack light because now at airports the weight everything. I am going to pack my heavy stuff and electronics in my carry on bag which will not have any cost.

Any more tips for packing?

Also any cool stuff in LA that you tell people "You have to see it" or "You gotta go here"?
