Question:

Family accommodation in Ireland (Eire) with a swimming pool?

Can anyone recommend a nice hotel/guesthouse/b&b/self-catering that is not too isolated? I've been searching all the obvious websites, but all the hotels with pools look very 'corporate'. We were hoping for something family friendly and low-key (not necessarily cheap). By the sea would be perfect but we would consider any area. Does anyone have any recommendations? Thanks very much

  1. a town in galway called clifden is really nice and its right by the sea.its the capital town of connemara(area in galway) and real peaceful.the main hotel there is called the station house and it has a nice swimming pool with a jacuzzi, sauna and steam room.i love this town.

  2. Chances are, the weather wont be such that you need a pool...how about a cottage by a lake? If you catch a hot day (hot means 70 degrees F in Ireland!) you can take a dip in the lake.

  3. when i was about 14 my family went to Ventry. It's about 4 miles from Dingle. We stayed in an apartment and I really enjoyed it (even though was initially annoyed at having to go on hoildays in Ireland and not abroad!). The beach in Ventry is fantastic and there are activites aimed at both adults and children. Despite being a small village, it was great for us as there was other families holidaying there too. Also it's locality and closeness to Dingle was a bonus. The owner of the apartments was a fisherman and brought us fresh fish every few days. Fantastic!

  4. There is a site called Vacation Homes By Owner.  I am not sure of the website, but you can google them and check it out.
