Family class sponsorship?

my partner and i recently got married in south africa. im here in canada right now and she in the philippines, i'm in the process of completing my application to sponsor her. im not sure if its necessary to hire a lawyer to help me. i was qouted $2400 down payment and another $2400 when the visa is issued. please let me know if its worth it.. any other advise?

You do not need a lawyer just to file the application in normal circumstances.  You have to gather and provide all the information yourself anyway---why pay someone just to turn it in for you.  It will not be any quicker just because you had a lawyer file it.  Everyone gets a number and everyone waits in line.

    IF you have exceptional circumstances (ie...spouse has a criminal record, marriage is not legal) then it is advisable to hire a lawyer.  Otherwise, save your money as you will need it later to move your spouse to Canada and start your life.

    My husband (Canadian) and I went through this process to get me into Canada.  We didn't need a lawyer and I am a PR in Canada now.  Good Luck
