My family and I are going on a cruise to the Caribbean for 9 days and I am not sure how much money to bring in cash. I am putting the ship, my drinks, and anything I get on the ship itself on my card so I don’t want to use it anymore than I have to. How much cash do you think i should bring? We are only hitting four islands.

  1. Depends on what you are going to do with the cash, if you are going to buy stuff and do other things that you will need cash for then you should bring enough.

  2. I have been on many cruises and I almost always take no more than a couple hundred dollars cash and that's plenty enough because everything else is prepaid and we generally only buy a couple souvenirs off the ship.  So $200 for you AND for spouse should be sufficient.  If either of you have big purchases in the port cities then use a credit card.  And, they do have an ATM on the ship, usually near the purser's desk.  And, here's another trick.  Go to the casino and get cash on your cruise card account from the casino cage.  No ATM fees that way.

  3. 175 to 200 dollars or a little less depending how much you buy. I'd at least bring 200 dollars at the least.

  4. DEPENDING I USUALLY TAKE ABOUT 100 PER DAY PER PORT JUST IN CASE OF EMERENCIES IF I DON'T USE IT THEN I PLACE BACK IN MY BANK OR SAVINGS JAR.  USUALLY YOU WILL SPEND ABOUT ABOUT 50 DEPENDING ON HOW MUCH YOU WANT TO BRING BACK. AND REMEMBER THAT THE SHIPS HAVE CASINOS AND YOU MAY WANT TO TRY YOUR LUCK ONCE OR TWICE HAVE FUN

  5. Are you planning on doing any excursions with your family? If you want to pay cash then I would bring the very least $100 a day for excursions. If you plan on buying souvenirs or small purchases like water, soft drinks off ship you will need more $$.

We always plan on at least $100 a day, we use our credit card for excursions if we can. I rather bring money home then not have enough money. You don't say what ports or how many are in your family, it's hard to judge the amount of cash you will need.

If you do a snorkel excursion and it's $50 each and you have 4 people in the family, that's $200 not including tip.

4 islands=4 excursions can add up. It really depends what you plan on doing at these ports.

    Good Luck and enjoy)

  6. Depends on what you plan to do.  Anything purchased on the ship [including excursions, drinks, tips, etc] will be included on your "sail & sign" card.

You will need cash for things purchased off the ship [tips to cab drivers, souvenirs, food/drinks, excursions you arrange on your own, etc], though you can sometimes use a credit card, say for shopping or excursions.

You can get by with very little cash if you limit the "extras".

  7. Dependign on how many pl going I would tel lyou to take abot 1000$ cause u never no what can happend and what u might see one those ports u stop on...I am warnign u 200& is wayy to lil but then again no your budget always take a lil extra if u can in case of any lil emergencies....some time when u stop on ports i might need a taxi are a water taxi ....from what i see goes on In sxm-St. maarten  it u do not like to walk ahahah
