Question:

Family friendly employment ideas?

I am needing to find a job ASAP! I am a mother of 5 and have been a SAHM for most of their lives and have loved every moment of it, but we are needing a supplemental income. I've looked into many "home business" sites, and they don't seem to be legit. I was wondering if anyone out there has found a job that works well with also being a mom (if such a thing exists!) Any ideas will be helpful!

  1. I am a classifieds manager for a newspaper and I have 6 kids, none of the work at home jobs which have been attempted to be placed in my newspaper have been legitimate.  It's part of my job to weed out the scammers before they hit the newspaper.  Anyone who asks you for a fee in order to work for them are NOT on the up and up.  You could possibly try babysitting if you plan on staying at home, especially if some of your kids are in school now.  Or also you might want to start a program where you put kids on the bus in the mornings and provide after school care for working parents.  I know from experience that it's very hard

  2. Try temporary employment through an agency like Manpower or Kelly Services.  They will test your skills, provide free training, and you can work the hours or days that best fit your schedule.

If you want to work exclusively from home, you could also consider an E*Bay business, either selling items on E*Bay or providing a service where you photograph/package/ship items for other sellers.

  3. If you still have kids at  home, a job with a school district would often give you the same days off as the kids have.

    Good luck.
