If u are taling about 'good family', then, there isn't any point can oppose to it - good family creates great kids, then creates better community.

If u are talking about 'bad family', of cos, it shouldn't be exist at all. All the social /society problems, vandalism, theft, mental illness, murder, unemployed, I believe are all from a bad irresponsible family.

(Note: by assuming the government has taking care of most of the things).

Family is important to your birth .and maybe your upbrining . but as an adult , my family is useless .  If I let them in they only bring me down .. I have substitued a group of close friends for the family I once cared for ... Friends are chosen , you are born to family ... friends will always treat you with respect and caring.

Family isn't so important, except when you're a child, you need them. Your upbringing. After, you can get away from your family, for you haven't chosen them. But you choose your friends, whom are much better because they give you what you really need, you share with them and they love you and respect you.
