Im going to a show on the 10th of august and i am thinking of entering family pony but i am not sure what it is all about for example ridden,in-hand ? i just dont know...

All i know it is for riders up to 16 years of age and the the height limit is 14.2hh....

So does anyone know what happens in this class it would be even better if you have been in one and tell me what happend and where you got placed

I do have a really quiet fjord anyone could ride her so i was thinking she would be suitable

  1. Family pony is a great class.

I used to show my 14.2 Hafflinger in this class all the time.

It is really a showing class, to establish that the pony is sensible but forward enough for the whole family to ride.

Details;   The pony needs to be of middleweight breeding,

( should be able to carry a small adult, or a child)

It should have perfect manners, and stand for mounting, but at the same time it must listen to your aids.

If your pony is a mountain or moorland, then don't plait, otherwise turnout should be of the same high standard as all showing classes.

You will be expected to ride in a group, walk, trot, canter on both reins. You will then be expected to produce an individual display.

Keep it short and to the point.

Show, walk.trot canter on both reins,(do not ride to far from the judge.) show halt, dismount and mount.

Sometimes a small fence is erected.(use it, providing your pony jumps sensibly).

At the end of your show; halt and salute the judge.

Good luck, have fun and smile.
