Family taking a cruise?

my wife and i and our 10yr old daughter ,8yr old boy,5yr old daughter are taking a 5 day cruise to cozumel in feb.we have never been so im looking for information like what to bring ,will the kids stay busy,what things we should do,how much spending money to bring(we are planning to bring about 1000.00) etc..we are very simple people.any answers will be very helpful.

Go to CruiseCritic.com, click on "Boards" and then go to whatever topic interests you.  I'd suggest "First Time Cruisers", "Money-Saving Tips", "Ports of Call" and the board for your cruise line.

Cozumel is a very easy port to do on your own.  You can take a cab down to Chanknaab Park [see their website] or to Paradise Beach [see website].  Just BE SURE to get back to the ship on time - if you're on your own and you're late for the ship they won't wait for you.

Flip Flops

Sun Glasses

Hat

Clothes (obviously - don't forget the swim suits)

Motion Sickness pills

Cipro ( you must have protection against Montezuma's Revenge)

Cruises usually have costume night - take an easy to pack costume if you are going to participate)

Copies of your passport and credit cards - keep them stored separately - in case you lose them

Ipod or some other digital device to use during down times - days at sea

Traveler's checks and a money belt
