Six in our family - two seniors, two adults and two kids under 8 - are looking to travel to Italy. We have a place to stay and have found cheap rental of two Fiat Pandas, but are wondering if next year may be a better bet? Think the Dollar will rebound? Think fuel prices/plane fares will be less? Nobody seems to know! Got an opinion? Thanks!!

  1. Any opinion still leaves the question unanswered as we can't know what the future holds.  So looking at the way the dollar value is standing next to the Euro it might be better to wait it out for another year if your financial standing is at risk.  That will give you more time to stash the cash for the trip even if it cost more.  I think the dollar will rebound somewhat because we have to balance out the economy in order to maintain footing in the global financial markets. Obviously our politicians and corporate entities have sold us out.  However, several months ago the US Dollar was valued around 76 cents to the Euro and now it's about 89 cents so that's a good sign. Still you will lose about $1100 out of your $10,000 in spending power.  Cost of goods and services can make up for the deficiency but you will have to shop around.

  2. Dollar rebound? NO!

Go this year!!! Unless you want to wait for the kids to get a little older...theyd appreciate it more

  3. Go this year. Check out Cheap tickets.com for less expensive airfare. Have fun
