Famous Name expected to dominate Amethyst Stakes (Group 3)
Famous Name is expected to dominate proceedings in the Amethyst Stakes (Group 3) at Leopardstown in Ireland on Sunday, May 13, 2012. The winner of the 1 mile race will be awarded a cash prize of €37,375.
Only five runners have been attracted towards the event, which is scheduled to start at 14:45 GMT, and their names are as follows: Famous Name, Sweet Lightning, Barack, Ask Jack and Kargali.
The bookmakers have full faith in the abilities of Famous Name, as he has a lot of experience and has been delivering some terrific results over the past few months. His performances will definitely encourage the punters to risk the maximum number of bets
in his favour.
The seven-year-old horse has taken part in 31 events until now, winning 15 of them and finishing runner up on seven occasions. Moreover, he has also secured the third spot on five times, which means that he only dropped out of the top three in four races.
Looking at these performances, it seems extremely difficult for the remaining runners to match the speed and skills of the D. K. Weld’s trainee. His recent form has also been good, as he finished third in his previous outing. His performance was a touch
disappointing that time around, as the bookies had awarded him with the best odds for victory.
However, Famous Name has the tools to make a comeback today. He will be partnered by P. J. Smullen, who is relatively new to the sport and has won just a few races in his career. He will need to be consistent in order to improve his strike rate, which will
help him attract bets in the future.
The bookmakers have also awarded pretty decent odds to Sweet Lightening, who is carrying the winning momentum at the moment. His strike rate is not much impressive though, as he has managed to win just five events out of 28 attempts.
However, the seven-year-old gelding took a comfortable victory in her most recent run, despite the fact that he was not rated as favourite to win back then. It will be important for him to carry on with the winning form in order to win the confidence of
the bettors next time around.
