Does anyone know the names of any famous belly dancers?

Right now in the world of Belly Dance, Rachel Brice is the top in Tribal.

Legends in Egyptian style Belly Dance or Oriental Dance (which is the correct name) are Samia Gamal, Tahiya Karioka and Nama Akef made famous in Egyptian film.

Believe it or not one of the most famous pseudo-jarvanese dancers was Mata Hari, the famous spy.

More recently American Tribal was pioneered by Carolene Nericcio of Fatchance belly dance in San Francsico.

Shakira does use some belly dance moves when she dances, but not all the moves she does are belly dance movements.  She incorporates other styles into her performances to create her own style.
