Fan U. S. Flag?

Question

What is the best way to fasten a fan flag to a porch? I have no luck with just using hooks into the grommets. I think there is a way to use rope but cannot find any directions. Thanks

If you are referring to a pleated fan (semi-circle of red-white-and blue) I would use roofing nails through the grommets (the roofing nails have a large head.  That's how they are up on my house and it works great.  Just make sure the head of the nail or s***w is larger than the hole of the grommet.

where on the porch? like a column or from an awning? i would suggest getting a small pole, that has a small steal plate base. the plate has a cylinder to hold the pole, and can be screwed into wood or brick. you can place a small block under it to change the angle of the pole.
