There's a dry ski slop quite near me and i fancy a new hobby this year. Anyone done it before? I have dodgy knees - will this be a problem? How much would lessons cost approximately? Thanks x

  1. If you have knee braces then wear them.  I saw a girl mess up her knee again because she left her brace at home

  2. dont no how much it costs but if u hav dodgy knees dont do it. ive been skiing for ten years and have been dry skiing once. it hurts so much more wen u fall over and thats where i broke my kneecap. ok so i broke it again as well as my arm skiing on actual snow lol but if u have bad knees dont risk it. go bowling lol

  3. I'm not sure how much lessons are, but i've been a few times before I went skiing in Austria and Italy and it is fun, but not as good as the real thing obviously lol. Its not that difficult once you get the hang of it, same as anything really :)

  4. if dry skiing is wenthere is no snow then you are wakko

  5. AVOID DRY SLOPES

They are a killer on the knees, get to the real thing if possible or even better learn to snowboard,i do both, skiing is abit easier to pick up but has more knee injury's where snowboarding tends to pick up more wrist injury's.If you dont mind a couple of days where you may fall abit snowboarding will come up trumps.

    good luck

  6. i loved doing this, i am in sheffield and we have a slope here. i found it easier than skiing on snow cos its slower. loads of fun.

the only problem is, i also have dodgy knees, and it caused me so much pain i had to stop. because you need to keep your knees bent pretty much all the time as well as putting your feet at an angle it can cause problems. but give it a go, it didnt cause me anymore long term damage, and the fun is worth the pain!

    good luck! xx
