my friend wants to have a fancy dress party for her 19th what are some good ideas?

Well depending on where you live, one inexpensive idea would be to check out

your local second hand store for some bargain dresses, Allot of second hand

stores have a big selection of only slightly used dresses that women only wore

once for their prom or other big event.

Something starting with the initials of the birthday girl (for example if her initials were A R, then you could go as an atronaught or a robot or something using both A and R in it)

Favourite literary character

Pick a decade (like 20s, or 60s or 70s) and dress like that era

Umm... a "when I grow up I want to be a..." party and dress as your dream career.

Kentucky derby is coming up and you could do a day at the races theme. Have everyone wear dresses (sun dresses) with hats for the girls and guys have bowties or ties and wear kaki pants and dress shirts..have kentucky themed foods or just southern foods like sweet tea, chicken, pecans, potato salad..etc. I had a party like this and it went over pretty well.
