  1. Honey, you get a 1600 on your SAT and you can get into any school you want. If you want to get into computers, I'd suggest you look at the Big 10 schools, like Penn State, Michigan, Ohio State, Northwestern, Wisconsin and Indiana. They're all exceptionally well-respected and even as an out-of-state student you can get in with an SAT as low as 1300. Another exceptional program is DePaul University in Chicago. When I worked in Chicago, every major company was pushing their IT staff to get their Masters at DePaul because of the quality of the program. It may be a private school (but so is VA Tech), but the amount of financial aid available is great because of the quality of its alumni (people like Richard Daley, mayor of Chicago, the presidents of Kelloggs, JP Morgan-Chase and Allstate).

Also, would I work for Fannie Mae for the rest of my life? Maybe. It depends on whether they have a position that I'd find challenging. Wait until your Jr year in college and get a competitive internship. Then you can get a good feel for what appeals to you and how you fit into corporate life.

Good luck to you and go for that 3.5 this year.

BTW, if you're a female did you know there's mega money out there for you to get into computer engineering? MEGA money. I know that Northwestern alone seeks out 200 female engineering students a year for full scholarships in order to get women into the industry. That's how Cindy Crawford got her free ride...

    Think about it...
