My wife is originally from the philippines and insists that in her country this is a known fact. I've never heard of such a claim, but she insists that if you sleep with a fan blowing on you, it will cause you to f**t more during the daytime. has anyone ever heard of this?

  1. Only the buildup of 'gas' within the bounds of the physical body, in animal or beasts, will cause a 'f**t.' This gas that would be harnessed within the confines of the body, would cause dire illness. Whatever the resolve, I wish you and your loved ones, much peace, love and good health. God bless!

  2. It must be one of those old wives tales.  Filipinos have a lot of sayings like this.  Some of them are steeped in truth, some are not.  I don't think this one is true.

  3. I don't think there's any correlation between the two.  I've had a fan blowing on me every night this summer (no AC) - I haven't noticed any acceleration in flatulence.

  4. I have never heard of this happening when using a fan while sleeping.

I sleep with a fan every night, even during the Winter months. The sound of the fan and the breeze helps me to sleep better. I haven't noticed any increase in passing gas. But, what you eat can increase gas.

  5. That's a really weird excuse for farting all day long!!!!! Don't stand downwind of her for too long.
