Fans disappointed after Miami Marlins mega-trade – MLB Update
Woes of the Miami Marlins’ fans have been fuelled by the blockbuster trade that the club is about to announce officially with the Toronto Blue Jays, which involves departure of star players from their team.
Fans are not accepting the fact that the players they can rely on bringing pride for the team have been sent to another organisation.
Fans are already frustrated because the Marlins finished at the bottom in their Division table during 2012 regular season. Their expectations were so high at the start of the season and fell down dramatically as the team began to falter.
Dejected and demoralised, they are hoping that next year turns out to be the beginning of their journey toward the ultimate glory.
However, as they see Marlins’ officials emptying the roster and going with a below par team for the upcoming season, they are criticising them hard.
For the fans, the trade is like the death of whatever little hope that they can have about the team’s show next year.
They understand that without a high profile shortstop such as Jose Reyes and amazing pitchers like Josh Johnson and Mark Buehrle, it is nearly useless to expect anything from the team.
Radio host, Jeff DeForrest has sarcastically suggested that the Marlins bring Fidel Castro on the mound next year as starting pitcher.
"The next move obviously is to have Fidel Castro throw out the first pitch next year," DeForrest said. "That's the only way they could alienate the fans more than they have."
As he took questions from the fans regarding the trade by the Marlins during his show, he has expressed their frustration and the lack of trust in the officials of the club.
"People are steamed," DeForrest said. "To dump the whole team is mind-boggling, but nothing is surprising with these two guys."
The trade will further reinforce the notion that the Marlins do not look like a Major League calibre team. Remaining players on their roster can succeed in the Minors more because they lack the potential to perform at the big league level.
Fans will be hoping that their cynical response to the trade makes the management change their ways and begin making the right decisions.
