  1. if you have a fan on in a room it will actually make the room hotter because the fan is using energy to move the air around! so the molecules are gaining energy not loosing it.

  2. It's true, the fan just moves the air around. However, your skin really does cool down because the wind makes more sweat evaporate from your skin. Thus you feel cool.

  3. It causes your sweat to evaporate quicker, causing a cooling effect.

  4. it doesnt create cold air, all it does is make a breeze, which relieves you temporarily.

thats why it wont cool a room if you leave it on for hours with no one in the room

  5. The air blown is not cool. It is the same temperature as the rest of the air in the room. It feels cool however, because when you are hot, capillaries in your skin dilate and warm blood goes to the surface fo your skin. The warmth is lost to the air outside.

When the air is not moving it is heated by your skin but is not replaced by more cool air quickly and so you remain warm.

When the air is being blown at you the air gets heated by your skin and passes past you quickly so you cool more quickly.

  6. Moving air helps the sweat (even if you don't feel like you're sweating) on your body evaporate. As it, or any water, evaporates from your skin, it absorbs the heat from your body to turn into water vapor. Since it's taking your excess heat, you feel cooler. Moving air itself can also take more heat from you. Think of it as trying to boil water in a pot versus boiling moving water from the faucet. It'd take a lot more time and energy to heat it up.

  7. as the air particles move they lose heat energy as it is converted into movement, so become cool.

  8. A GUESS== IN YOUR MIND= YOU THINK ANY TIME YOU USE A FAN IT MAKES YOU COOL, SO NATURALLY WHEN YOU TURN IT ON ITS COOL TO YOU, NO MATTER WHAT IT SENDS. JUST A THOUGHT.
