Fans still have chance to grab tickets for five sports in the London 2012 Olympics
With the second round of chance ticket sales started on Friday, June 25, there are only five sports that are left for audiences. These include football, women's boxing, women's weightlifting, wrestling and volleyball.
Despite the fact that people do not seem excited about these sports, they are still willing to make the purchase in order to become a part of the London 2012 Olympics experience.
In the first round of ticket sales, only 700,000 lucky applicants got the chance to get the tickets with 1.2 million left in the lurch. Of the 700,000 who did get their hands on the tickets, not all were satisfied with what they got. With the increasing
amount of criticism that LOCOG, the main organiser of the event, was experiencing along with the general disappointment of the public, the second chance ticket sales did not do much to change the public sentiment.
The people who did not get a chance to buy tickets in the first round despite the fact that they applied for them were given the first chance at the total of 2.3 million tickets that were still available. The sports events that have now been taken off the
shelf include beach volleyball, basketball, hockey as well as rowing.
The LOCOG chairman, Sebastian Coe, made the following statement concerning the whole ticketing process: “We know there is still some disappointment from those who were not successful in their requests but we will continue doing everything we can to get them
to the Games. Over a million new tickets will be offered to the British public next year from contingency seats, once venues are tested and licensed, and we aim to get as many of these tickets as possible into the hands of customers who have missed out to
date.”
Earlier, the organisers had promised that the ticketing website will not experience problems this time around, it still could not handle the heavy online traffic that logged on to get a hold of the applications for tickets. This resulted in some applicants
not being able to accomplish their task successfully. As a result, about 15,000 people were left out in the cold.
