The World Number One, Lee Chong Wei, has been placed in Group A along with Denmark’s Peter Hoeg Gade, Indonesia’s Simon Santoso and Japan’s Sho Sasaki. In Group B, Lin Dan and Chen Long from China, Kenichi Tago from Japan and Taufik Hidayat form Indonesia
will compete to find glory. Two shuttlers from each group will qualify for the semi-finals of the championship.
The fans would love to see Chong Wei and Lin Dan contesting in the final battle of the tournament. Seu Bock also said with a smile that they also want Chong Wei to win. However, he said that it will be tough for Chong Wei as Lin Dan and Chen Long will be
there to stop him
He said, “But in all honestly, it is going to be hard for Chong Wei. Both Lin Dan and Chen Long will have the crowd’s backing.”
He also added, “The group matches won’t be easy either. Chong Wei has three in his group who can last the pace. Peter has shown that age is not a factor while both Simon and Sasaki are vibrant players full of energy.”
While talking about the prospects shuttlers in the current event and the Olympic Games, Seu Bock said that there are three shuttlers who have a chance to win these events.
He said, “I see three names – Chong Wei, Lin Dan and Chen Long – leap before my eyes when I think of the Olympic Games.”
It has been a successful year for Chong Wei and by winning the last Super Series event will be a perfect finish. A victory in this event will certainly boost his confidence and will help him in getting the top seeding in the Men’s Singles draw in the next
year’s Olympic Games.
